Announcment of Harmon Field Restoration Fund

November 15, 2022

Dear BRHJA members and friends of Harmon Field,

As we wrap up our 2022 horse show season, we would like to thank you for your continued participation and support of BRHJA. We hope you have all had a successful and fun show season competing with us. We can not wait to celebrate with you all at our annual awards banquet on January 21, 2023. Please stay tuned for more details regarding the banquet.

With fall quickly turning to winter, we are hoping to raise enough money during our short “off season” to begin restoration of the historic show grounds at Harmon Field. Harmon Field offers an affordable and local option for horse showing that we want to continue to offer to our amazing equine community. Our first and most important project consists of repairing the show rings and schooling area. The life of our local horse show circuit depends on this work being completed before the first show in March.

To begin this necessary work, we need YOUR help! We need to raise $15,000 to repair the show rings. Tryon Riding and Hunt Club has graciously offered to donate $5,000, if our association can raise $10,000. We are asking for your help to meet this goal by January 1, 2023. This is a quick turn around time, but if we can not start the ring restoration in January, repairs on the rings may not be completed in time for the March horse show.

After the rings are repaired, fundraising will be for electrical and plumbing repairs, an additional schooling area, stall restoration, new ring fencing, and other cosmetic repairs. Our overall goal is $100,000 for the Harmon Field Restoration Fund.

At this time, all donations may be written payable to Town of Tryon. Please note on your check, Harmon Field Restoration Fund. The town will mail a nonprofit donation acknowledgement letter to you. These monies will only be used to repair and enhance the historic horseshow grounds at Harmon Field. We will continuously add updates to our official website, BRHJA.com. THANK YOU for your support of Harmon Field!
